Conclusion of the agreement with The State Ministry for the Development of Disadvantaged Region

SHI Corporation (“the Company”) (Pink Sheets: SHCC) announced today that it’s 100% wholly owned operating subsidiary, Ecoindex Co. Ltd., located in Tokyo, Japan, has agreed and signed an agreement as follows.

An agreement (document No.: 005/MOU/D.V-PDT/IX/2009) is made and entered on 11 September, 2009 by and between The State Ministry for the Development of Disadvantaged Region (“the Ministry”) the Government of Republic of Indonesia (GOI) and Ecoindex Co. Ltd., under terms of plantation of 22.5 million Super Paulownia trees in the land area total of 50,000 ha within 10 years and the total budget will be USD 2.7 billion. The purpose of this Plantation project will be the creation of job, contribution in the improvement of welfare in those community areas which the Ministry is developing, and also increase the CO2 absorption and preserve the natural forest. The government will invest in the budget of infrastructure and will coordinate and facilitate the private sector initiative for the implementation of the plantation project.

Furthermore, it is a part of the cooperation between Government sources of Indonesia and Ecoindex Co. Ltd., announced on 8 July, 2009 to establish a way to engage the absorption of CO2 associated to the plantation of Super Paulownia in carbon emission trading.

It is announced together that an agreement of Joint Research to ascertain CO2 absorption of Super Paulownia trees is made and entered on 1 September, 2009 between Hiroshima University and Ecoindex Co. Ltd., to obtain scientific proof of evidence on the absorption of CO2 by the plantation.
